The Presbyterian gives a Scotch highball a ginger accent. Difford’s Guide describes it as a traditional British highball and specifies blended Scotch, soda water and ginger ale. No individual creator is established by that source, so the drink is presented here as a classic rather than attached to an invented origin story.
A tall glass and cold mixers do most of the work. Measure the Scotch and soda first, then leave enough space for ginger ale over the ice. The lemon wheel is a garnish, not a measured dose of juice. Stir lightly to combine rather than shaking the carbonated ingredients.
